Revolution of Looting

That's how the Daily Mail describes the ill fate of the mansion of Viktor Pshonka, the Yanukovich's time General Prosecutor of Ukraine:

Revolutionaries wasted no time, and broke into his mansion for the first time immediately after he fled in 2014.
Inside, they discovered an orgy of kitsch - velvet curtains with gilded stripes, chaise-longues in a faux aquarium, marble busts, four-poster beds and what appeared to be a Faberge egg.
What followed was a free for all, with some individuals walking out with whatever they could carry.
Activists then pleaded with new President Petro Poroshenko to seize Pshonka's opulent home and recover its valuable assets for the impoverished state.
Instead, the country's current pro-EU government did nothing to stop the thieves.
Last October plunderers were able to live for a month and half in Pshonka's luxury home while they tore apart its interior.

 

There's a whole set of such pairs of images, taken from the same spots with a two years interval between.

The DM continuously call the Maidaners 'revolutionaries', following the officially adopted by the West version of 'Revolution of Dignity'.
However, what happened in Ukraine two years ago in no case was a revolution. A revolution leads to a change of social formation: so, the Great French Revolution washed away monarchy (with a true flood of blood, I have to add); two consecutive revolutions in Russia did same things in 1917.

However, the only result of Maidan was a change of political elite; the Yanukovich-supported oligarchy (quite mistakenly considered pro-Russian) was changed with that of Poroshenko, an oligarch himself. So it was just a coup d'état, whatever the mainstream media say.

And now we come to the second part of the definition, 'dignity'. The images in the DM show the exact amount on dignity in that Ukrainian pseudo-revolution.

Just because those 'revolutionaries' the DM is speaking of, calling them also 'all', 'individuals' and 'activists', are just the very same people later called 'thieves', 'looters' and 'plunderers'.

Do you see any unmasked face in the pictures published by the DM?

True revolutionaries do not mask their faces.

Distillation of What Ukraine Is Now

The story below has been carefully collected and archived by Alexander Dyukov, Russian historian, author and human rights defender, founder of the Historical Memory Foundation. My part was just to translate and post it here. Well, and to add the last line.

These are the former armed insurgents of the so called "Maidan Self-Defense Forces", nowadays the "Kiev-2" battalion of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.

They seized a man; made him undress; beat him; tied his hands and threw him into dirt.

It's Autumn; and it's not that warm round there.

Obama's Truth on Ukraine

President of the USA Mr. Barack Obama called President-elect of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych on February 11, 2010:

President Obama called Victor Yanukovych of Ukraine today to congratulate him on his election and wish him success in carrying out his mandate. The President commended the Ukrainian people on the conduct of their February 7 vote. This peaceful expression of the political will of Ukrainian voters is another positive step in strengthening democracy in Ukraine. They agreed on the importance of continuing cooperation on nuclear non-proliferation. They also wished each other’s athletes success in the Vancouver Olympic Games.
The strategic partnership between the United States and Ukraine is based on shared interests and values. These include expanding democracy and prosperity, protecting security and territorial integrity, strengthening the rule of law, promoting non-proliferation, and supporting reform in Ukraine’s economic and energy sectors. The 'Revolution of Dignity' shows its real face.

Yesterday they killed a famous MP and party of Regions member Oleg Kalashnikov.

Oles' Alekseevich Buzina (Олесь Алексеевич Бузина), 13.08.1969, Kiev — 16.04.2015, Kiev.

Today they killed a prominent journalist Oles' Buzina, who also had enough courage to have his own opinion. Hypocritical Western media call him 'pro-Russian', but this is just cold-war-esque propaganda. Oles' Buzina was a true patriot of Ukraine, thus he was against bloodshed, against coup d'état in Kiev, and for tight and friendly relations between Ukraine and Russia.

May you rest in peace, Oles.

We all hope Ukraine will heal itself, and your books will be a great assistance in this slow and painful way, the way to mental health.

PS: I wonder where are all these liberal and democratic "JesuisBuzina" and the like activity. Looks like they don't feel the freedom of speech is fpr all...

The Ukrainian Chronicles. Peace.

For about a month the border guards let his Ford Transit pass almost without examination, so Serge didn’t worry except for a slight pain in his gut, like the beginning diarrhea. “It doesn’t matter,” he thought to himself. “The main thing is to make myself believe that this is a normal trip.”
The familiar lieutenant, Alex, asked him to open the van, looked through the empty rusted space with some laminate, cans of paint and film-wrapped carpets piled up closer to the cabin, and took two bags standing at the door.
Something gurgled in the bags, the end of a raw smoked sausage poked out.
“You can go, Sergey Nikolaevich.”
“Thanks, Alex.”
To each his own.

Serge didn’t race, though he had a strong wish. Sometimes he even slowed down as if trying to bring to reason his heart clattering forte, and his thoughts that took already away all the distance. Quiet, man, calm down. There’s no place to hurry.
In Gorlovka he unloaded paint and laminate at a warehouse as humanitarian aid, brought one of the carpets into a kindergarten.
“Where do you go now, Sergey Nikolaevich?” a very young teacher, looking almost like Sveta, asked.
“Home,” Serge smiled, “I’m building up anew.”

He turned to his home indeed, closer to Donetsk, to the ashes that had been a small village three years ago. He drove by a lop-sided, burned fence, by the Frolovs’ house ruined by an explosion, by abandoned kitchen gardens and a feral fruit garden.
Late spring. Everything blossoms as if there wasn’t anything. Everything cicatrized, pulled together, grew with greens. Yet it’s more difficult with people. Besides Serge, no one wanted to lodge on the former place.
He drove in between remains of a shed and the house with yellow patches of fresh wooden bars, moved back to the end-wall, running with a back wheel over a black currant bush. He felt a sudden pain, as if hit a man. He remembered: it was Dimka who planted it, he was small then, about seven... Doesn’t matter, man, it isn’t important any more, he will replant it later.
Serge shut off the engine.
Slight breeze went onto a half-lowered window, a crow croaked, something rumbled somewhere away — not artillery, just a thunder-storm.
He sat still for a while, deciding, adjusting himself. Serge thought: “If he died, he’s got what he deserved. Perhaps, it would be better if he died.”
We have peace. Peace.

A Map of Hell

Using Google Map resource, some volunteers of Donetsk have created and are constantly adding data to a map of shelling and bombing sites of Donetsk region.

I am not sure the map opens for you in English, so what you have to know is:

All capital leters in italic are names of districts of the city of Donetsk or Donetsk Oblast.

At present they've collected data for the period since September 4, 2014 to January 16, 2015.

You a welcome to check yourself that Anti-Terroristic Operation carried on by the Kiev/Kyiv regime since before Poroshenko was elected as president (by the way, who does remember now he promised to finish the ATO in just days?) in fact is a countinuous act of state terrorism against civilian population of their own country, effected illegally using all armed forces including army, that according to their constitution has no right to carry on warfare without declaring the war state, let alone shooting at own population.

You are free to see that all their statements regarding 'pro-Russian separatists and terrorists' shelling their own houses is a total bullshit. Because the Ukrainian state supported by the USA and the official EU carries own a true bloody civil war. But they cannot win, as the people cannot lose; the people either win or die, tertium non datur.

Just open your eyes and see. It is the 21st century.

Europe (geographically; though those maidan jumpers would like to go to Europe still farther, evidently, to better spread their nazi ideas of national supremacy).

Big Guys Speak for Nemtsov

Many people die daily of all kinds of violent death, but not all of them deserve so a close attention from the top of the world.

Mr. Obama has immediately issued a statement (bold font is mine):

The United States condemns the brutal murder of Boris Nemtsov, and we call upon the Russian government to conduct a prompt, impartial, and transparent investigation into the circumstances of his murder and ensure that those responsible for this vicious killing are brought to justice. Nemtsov was a tireless advocate for his country, seeking for his fellow Russian citizens the rights to which all people are entitled. I admired Nemtsov’s courageous dedication to the struggle against corruption in Russia and appreciated his willingness to share his candid views with me when we met in Moscow in 2009. We offer our sincere condolences to Boris Efimovich’s family, and to the Russian people, who have lost one of the most dedicated and eloquent defenders of their rights.

Well, vast majority of Russian people does not consider Nemtsov a defender of their rights, and I am not an exclusion. So, Mr. Obama, I have an honour to reject your generous offering. His death is surely a crime to be investigated, and those guilty are to be prosecuted, but this is the only way Boris Nemtsov's death can be taken as a loss.

An old friend of Russia, Senator John McCain was way more eloquent:

I was devastated to learn of the murder in Moscow today of my friend Boris Nemtsov. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and many friends in Russia and around the world. With his death, the struggle for free speech and human rights in Russia has suffered another devastating blow.

That Boris's murder occurred in a secure part of the Russian capital raises legitimate questions about the circumstances of his killing and who was responsible. But regardless of who actually pulled the trigger, Boris is dead because of the environment of impunity that Vladimir Putin has created in Russia, where individuals are routinely persecuted and attacked for their beliefs, including by the Russian government, and no one is ever held responsible.

I had long been concerned about Boris's safety, and said so publicly. I will never forget the last meeting we had. I begged him to be careful, and Boris told me that he would never give up the fight for freedom, human rights, and rule of law for his fellow Russians, even if it cost him his life. I am heartbroken that it has come to that. There must be a full investigation of Boris's murder, and those responsible must be held accountable. The world will be watching.

He's an old soldier and evidently knows not that many English words, to be devastated to learn of another devastating blow to the struggle for free speech and human rights in Russia. His competence and expertise in conditions of life in Russia do impress: "environment of impunity" made a tear in my eyes.

As for the last paragraph, I do doubt such a warmonger as John McCain can be heartbroken because of a single human death. Especially taking into account the deceased was not an American, he was not even a EU citizen; he was just their Russian agent of influence, that is a grade C+ person, not higher. Besides, McCain's concerns resemble strangely enough with Nemtsov's own concerns he expressed in the interview I quoted in my previous post (go to the end of it).

I hope we will know whose dirty game it was.

The day before yesterday Boris Nemtsov was an ex-politician, frankly, a loser, a clown trying to play against Putin and against Russia (or, if you wish, for such Russia that would first of all please the USA and the EU). Those four bullets turned him into a fallen hero of anti-Putin resistance in a moment.

The question qui prodest remains. At present I feel our oppositioners will try to get as much benefits of it as possible; in fact, they've started. It's also good for radical (and stupid) Ukrainians, who evidently dislike their being in hell (carefully created by themselves within just a year) and would contribute everything they have to provoke a maidan in Russia.

Anyhow, we will see who will be beneficiaries of the criminal tragedy.

RIP, Boris, your game is suddenly over. The life is going on, though, for the world is hopefully without end.

Amen.

Clarity in the Courtyard of Hell

I have just found quite an impressive film, created by Klagemauer TV.

The film was originally in German, but they translated it to many languages, including Russian and English. It was published in August, 2014, but, unfortunately, it is still not late to watch it now. Spend 21 minutes; the film deserves it.

Our words are our sword. What a pity peace still is a thing to desperately fight for.

Value of Their Words

A photo to have a good start, a kind of preface.

It's a still from a Ukrainian TV report on the visit to the USA of some Ukrainian figures back in 2014. Here the old fart Senator John McCain is surrounded by three Ukrainian battalion commanders: Andriy Teteruk (battalion Mirotvorets, that is Peacemaker), Yuri Bereza (Dnipro-1),  and Semen Semenchenko (Donbas).

And now an introduction follows: a video of Senator James Inhofe presenting photographs to the Senate on Wednesday, February 11, of what he said were Russian tanks in Ukraine.


What a surprise! Who could imagine! At least some of the images the Ukrainian delegation gave to US senators as proofs of Russian invasion in Ukraine turned out to be fake. Senator Jim Inhofe decided to publish the photographs he had shown to Senate, evidently in an attempt to speed up the law on delivery to Ukraine of letal weapons. As a result, The Washington Free Beacon feels fooled now.

Well, the images are not 100% fake, because the images do depict a Russian invasion. What makes the difference is the fact the Russians are invading South Ossetia back in August 2008, to defend the region from the treacherous aggression of the ill-famed Saakashvili, then President of Georgia.

BHL in Ukraine Again: More Blood Will Follow

Bad news for Ukraine: Bernard-Henri Lévy came to accompany Poroshenko in visiting Kramatorsk, city that was shelled on February 10.

Let's remember his bloody footsteps.

• Way back in early 1990-s he stood for Bosnian Muslims in Yugoslavia.
• In 1999 he authored some articles calling to bomb Serbia in favour of the 'Kosovo Liberation Army'.
• During the war in South Ossetia he was with Saakashvili, then President of Georgia who unleashed the war during the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in Beijing.
• In 2011 he supported his friend Sarkozy and called for military intervention in Libya (and there were delivered full loads of democracy and all possible rights and freedoms to this country).
• In 2013 he raised his voice against the 'bloody Assad's regime' in Syria, calling West to intervene.
• On February 9, 2014 he spoke at Maidan in Kiev; next day his speech was printed by Le Monde, titled "We All Are Ukrainians".

Thus, Bernard-Henri Lévy is neither French, nor Jew; he is a devil incarnate, a warmonger and blood-thirsty monster, hypocritically called a philosopher and public intellectual. Whatever intellect he has, he uses it just for approving acts of war and genocide on the worldwide scale. Death, blood and tears always follow him.

So it was, e.g., in former Yugoslavia and in Libya, so it has been in Ukraine, and now with his second visit to Ukraine things are supposed to get even worse and bloodier.

Syria and Libya are forgotten now; the next target is Russia. Here is his recent article published by a pro-Ukrainian web site. One who has eyes can see: his hatred of Putin sound just as stupid and zoologic as it can be. And stating that "the Russian nation state is no older than the Ukrainian" he just announces a total lack of knowledge in things this 'philosopher' dares to speak about.

Luckily for us, there are sober minded people that know his price. Hopefully, this picture published by some French journalists sometimes comes true. Freedom of speech is nice, but I am confident such black sheeps of human race should not have access to media.

And there will be less hatred and bloodsheds in the world.

Various Puppets, Same Master

Many things in different countries are done using apparently the same screenplay, plot, scenario.

Just have a look at some samples.

This video was uploaded to YouTube on March 7, 2014. Some actors of Ukrainian theaters address to the Russian people. Generally speaking, they say they are just like us Russians, normal people. The Russian language is not suppressed in Ukraine. They do not want war. Some elder ones became popular way back in the USSR. By the way, many of them take part in Russian performances, movies and TV series — just business, Russia pays, money doesn't smell.

Je Suis Volnovakha?

There are some places that can undoubtedly be called hell on Earth. One of such places is Ukraine, mostly its Eastern part, including two self-proclaimed repubics of Donetsk and Lugansk that call themselves Novorossiya.

Yesterday there was another tragedy there: explosion of something rpoduced plenty of splinters that killed, as per actual information, 12 people and wounded 17.

In no time (and it's not just a figure of speech — it really was done immediately — the Ukrainian side blamed "Russian terrorists" in this attack. No wonder: for the Ukrainian collective unconsious feeling Russia is guilty in every and all Ukrainian troubles, Russia in general and Putin personally.

A picture from a pro-Kiev, pro-maidan Facebook public account. They always know who's to blame.

Yet more surprising was the press briefing of Marie Harf that also took place almost immediately after the killing. She said, in particular:

... we condemn continued attacks by separatists as they attempt to control additional territory in violation of the Minsk agreements. Today’s vicious and repeated attacks on the Donetsk Airport and the shelling of a bus that killed 10 people and wounded 13 are just the latest egregious violations of the commitments made by the Russia-backed separatists...

Well, there is a long story behind the very word "separatists"; it was the new Kiev regime who made separatists of people, who just wanted Ukraine to become a federal state, by its stupid internal policies and started a civil war, desperately trying to convince the world of a Russian aggression.

During this civil war the Donetsk airport became one of the hottest spots. But how on Earth could Marie Harf know, just a couple hours later, that "Russian-backed separatists" were to blame in this cruel killing? The exact number of victims was not known yet; but it looks like there was no necessity in knowing exact information having a strong unquestionable prejudice of Russian guilt.

No investigation was conducted at all, evidences were mixed und unreliable, yet the one to blame was found immediately (maybe, in advance?). Isn't it a bit strange looking?

I know that warfare in general is always accompanied by more or less cruelty and atrocities and war crimes. Various sad accidents are possible at war, including "friendly fire", unintended deaths, etc.

However, as for investigation, so far I remember since the times when the Roman law was really Roman, one of the most important tasks was to discover cui prodest, that is for whom the deed is profitable.

And thinking about this tragedy from this point of view you inevitavly come to a conclusion it brought absolutely no profit to Novorossiya from any possible viewpoint; and it was absolutely profitable for Kiev regime — and for those who backed and supported the Ukrainian coup d'état or maidan (hypocritically called Revolution of Dignity), and encouraged Kiev to unleash a campaign of true, real state terrorism over those who were brave enough to oppose the regime.

If you want to stop war in Donbass effectively, stop Poroshenko now and forever, do not let Ukraine turn into a medieval state with radically nationalistic (Nazi) Bandera ideology. A huge part of Ukraine is already kind of Syria in Europe; is the next stage Libya?

Cui prodest?

There Is Hell on Earth

It is brought to the land of Ukraine by those who supported the coup d'état in Kiev; and now Kiev delivers it to the Eastern part of the country, to people who do not want to live together with Banderist neoNazi's.

They killed Vanya's stepfather and youner brother Timofey of 5. The rest of splinters destroyed Vanya's both feet, right hand, and one eye (the sight ability of the second one is doubtful now).

Last summer of Vanya being healthy and with his younger brother alive.

Millions were out on the street, declaring "Je suis Charlie" in remembrance of Charlie Hebdo caricaturists killed in Paris. It was a terrific terrorist attack, indeed. There were big figures walking in Paris, including Poroshenko.

Yet who cares of Dnobass people? Who is disturbed by sufferings of Vanya and many of his compatriots of all ages?

It looks like people are selectively caring. It looks like some lives matter more than other lives. I hate this bullshit.

Yatsenyuk: More Fun Than Expected

Here I'd like to add a kopeck (or a penny, if you wish) to my recent post about Yatsenyuk invented "Soviet invassion in the Ukraine and in Germany".

The German ARD TV published full raw video of the interview, that is with journalist asking questions in German, and Yatsenyuk replying in Ukrainian. Well, mostly Ukrainian.

Unfortunately, I am not an expert in Ukainian language, albeit have quite an experience of learning languages.

He speaks Ukrainian, yet for some reason he uses a couple of English words.

At 0:30, he says about cyber-attacks on some German official web-sites that took place just before his visit to Berlin. I just do not understand why he says 'cyber' in English manner, that is [sai-ber]; whether in Russian or Ukrainian he should say 'кибер' (кiбер for Ukrainian), that is pronounced with [ki-], like in 'kee'.

And further, when talking about this very invasion, — at 1:23 — he literally says 'invasion', pronouncing the word in English (using it grammatically as if it was feminine gender, which shows adjective 'Soviet' in the genitive fem. form, 'радянську').

As if he suddenly forgot his native Ukrainian word 'вторгнення' (by the way, grammatically it is neutral gender and would require the word 'Soviet' in the corresponding form — 'радянськo'), which is quite a strange supposition taking into account that they have been speaking about mythic Russian invasion for more than half a year.

I think the world remembers he speaks pretty fluent English by his countless interview he gave during 'maidan' to the Western media. But what does this 'invasion' in his head mean for Ukraine, Russia and Europe, I don't know. I'm afraid, nothing good.

Failure of Maidan in Moscow

Just before the New Year, on December 30, there was a sudden attempt to arrange something like 'EuroMaidan' in Moscow. Initially, the organizers of anti-Putin movement planned their activity to January 15, when the announcement of sentence to fraudster Alexey Navalny (for some unknown to me reasons chosen by some powers as one of "opposition" leaders in Moscow) was expected.

However, the great master of political games Vladimir Putin seems to overplay again his adversaries. The announcement was moved to December 30, and "oppo's" had to act quickly.

Playing bad games in a hostile surrounding (do not forget, Putin enjoys close to 85% support from our people) can seldom be successful, and our "opposition" failed epically! I do not exactly now how many people did they succeed to conscript for participating in their meeting (in social networks the activity can be traced under hash-tag #Манежка, that is Manezhnaya Square in the centre of Moscow), maybe 3,000, maybe even 5,000 — it just doesn't matter in our multi-million city. What does, however, that is a perfect job done by our police, which quickly and effectively terminated the unauthorized meeting, having arrested some most aggressive participants.

What a pleasure it is to read tweets of the kind for us, pro-Russian Russians :)

Ritz is a hotel situated quite close to Manezhnaya Square in the very beginning of Tverskaya, former Gorky Street, on the place of previous Intourist hotel; the OMON is a police special team that perfectly acted as a punishing sword boot of democracy.

"My ass hurts as hell" — this is more or less what expects all those stupid idiots who think Russia needs some Ukrainian style maidan. Whoever is the US ambassador to Russia, whoever they choose as oppo-leaders in Russia, they have failed now, and will do in the future.

We won't let anybody to destroy our country.

Opera of Propaganda

I've come across a real, hu-u-uge diamond of hypocrisy. You won't believe where I have found it.

Opera News published by the Metropolitan Opera Guild. Who could even thought of it!

You can hardly find someone who seriously believes in free and unbiased Western media. But do you think Opera is far from policy? Well, maybe it has been; however, not any longer.

Look what John Freedman has written about the "Russian Winter". Quite a piece of demagogy, quite expectable of an art critic in the field of art criticism, but not in the field of policy.

What does Valery Gergiev do? He supports Putin's repressive policies. Why 'Putin's policies' are repressive? Has John Freedman suffered? Who did suffer, and if did, why? Does Mr. Freedman know that in the USA there are way more convicted criminals, that in Russia, and recently, just for instance, there were riots in Fergusson; how are Obama's policies repressive in comparison to those of Putin?

Those policies have caused people inside and outside Russia to talk increasingly about a return to the worst tactics and attitudes from Russia’s Soviet past. The examples are legion. What follows is a small selection.

Let's have a look at that Mr. Freedman considers examples from the 'legion of the worst tactics and attitudes'.

As Russia’s hostile response to the Maidan protests in Ukraine increases in December 2013, Russian state television unleashes a war of lies, fear and incrimination against anyone who disagrees with official policy — tactics on a level that had not been seen since at least the late 1940s, if not the height of the Purges in the late 1930s.

Any normal state is supposed to react hostily to a coup d'état, and it was nothing more than a putsch, a coup in Kiev. Only he can talk about a 'war of lies, fear and incrimination' in Russian TV, who has never watched Ukrainian, which leaves far behind even such monsters of political propaganda as CNN, BBC, Deutsche Welle, etc. And — did Mr. Freedman witness the late 1940s in the USSR, let alone those great and evil Purges of the late 1930s, to compare with present time, I wonder?

After Russia hastily annexes the Crimean peninsula in March 2014, Putin borrows the phrase “national traitors” from Adolf Hitler’s Mein Kampf to describe those who oppose his actions. As a result, the notion of “national enemies,” or “enemies of the people” — the latter phrase used to devastating effect by Stalin during the Purges — is revived in public discourse to refer to anyone not backing Kremlin policies.

Bullshit for the stupid incapable of logic thought. For those who don't know history I remind: the Crimea was illegally given to Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic by Khruschev (physically remaining in one and the same country); after disintegration of the USSR the region as an autonomous republic had a right to choose which was violated by the Ukrainian power in 1992. After the Ukrainian coup, in March, 2014 the citizens of Crimea had a referendum at which vast, absolute majority voted for independence from Ukraine... In no way it was an annexation; it was rather incorporation or reincorporation, if you wish; in plain words, coming home. Just compare it with Kosovo where there was no single trace of democracy at all, and shut up.

As for the Mein Kampf, there are plenty of words used in the book; does anyone using them quote Hitler? As for national enemies of enemies of people — hostis publicus is a definition from the Roman law, Nero was declared one by the Senate back in AD 68, quite a great while before those Stalin Purges. Robespierre fought against enemies of public, and Stalin had not been designed yet at that time. Wait, wait, have a look. In 1930 Frank Loesch regarded Al Capone with his gangsters as public enemies, and afterwards Mr. Hoover of the FBI extensively used the definition to describe top wanted criminals. Was it Stalin who advised them such a term? What for have you gone out of the theatre, Mr. Freedman?

Political denunciations return with a vengeance: independent writers, artists, directors and performers are vilified by the Kremlin-friendly press, accused of perversion and sedition.

Bullshit and quite an Orwellian doublespeak. Mr. Freedman; not all those who do not support the Kremlin are independent; not all those pro-Russion or patriotic are Kremlin-friendly. Yet at present those acting against Kremlin foreign policy act in favour of the USA and EU, against Russia. Having lived in Russia for 26 years you are supposed not to be such narrow-sighted, Mr. Freedman.

For the first time since the Soviet era, forced psychiatric treatment — read: incarceration in an asylum — is used as punishment for individuals convicted in political trials.

Well, it seems like he has just an overdose of some ultra liberal press (which in our local conditions unfortunately means anti-Russian and russophobic, strongly devaluating abstractly perfect liberal values). It is so convenient, to allegate someone in all deadly sins not giving a single fact or name.

A law bans the use of obscenities on stage or screen.

Well, maybe there is no such a law in the USA, but I wonder how many 'f-words' and 'c-words' I (or any movie character, for that matter) can freely express at the prime time on any US federal TV channel? Though as is, the law is a bit to strict, I have to admit; there should be provided some 'adult' areas.

Another law bans the casting of doubt on “official” historical accounts of World War II; history is no longer something to be studied, debated and understood but something the government defines.

Well, not that bad. We are sick and tired of those who say it were the USA who took victory over Germany and won in the WW2. There are even idiots who say if Hitler conquered the USSR we would all drink Bavarian beer now. Such delusions definitely do not worth debating and studying.

Russian parliament’s so-called “anti-gay” law bans the “propagandizing of gay lifestyle to children.”

Hey Mr. Freedman, anti-gay or anti-propagandizing to children? Do you as a theatre critic see and feel the difference? The law is called 'anti-gay' only by such russophobic doublespeakers as you. Generally. none in Russia is somehow concerned how are you doing in your bedroom; just do not fuck children; paedophilia is still a crime here (and I do hope it remain forever, irrespective of what they do in Europe).

Peaceful protesters, even individual pickets, are routinely muzzled and arrested, although individual pickets are expressly defended in the Russian constitution.

Another piece of bullshit; 'peaceful protesters' have already become a mem, after the armed coup in Kiev conducted by those 'peaceful protesters'. Again, we see no names, dates and facts. Just and allegation. Well, Mr. Freedman; being in Russia, you can enjoy true and real freedom of speech you cannot even hope for in the USA or EU. And as for individual pickets — though our constitution does not deal with such tiny details of life, they are allowed by law and people do not have any troubles with them. Just try one!

Well, all the article is strongly biased in the way I have just commented. Just read it if you have not. You see: it is written by quite ea single-minded person whose superidea is that Russia is to blame and has no right for its own policy.

The only thing I'd like to add. Talking about those who 'support the Kremlin', Mr. Freedman takes such names as Valery Gergiev, Anna Netrebko, Oleg Tabakov, Yuri Bashmet — real geratest stars of Russian culture, known worldwide.

But talking about those sufferning, he names musicians Diana Arbenina, Andrey Makarevich (with all due respect, Russian rock is often called govnorok here, i.e. 'shitrock') and some other artists who share one thing in common: they are marginal. They do not form cultural space of Russia. They are just scene or TV personalities.

By the way: one of the images illustrating the article, is taken in London. The image itself is a good sample of biased journalism; it was taken using a super wideangle lens so that there was an impression of a huge mass of people gathered. The caption reads: "Human-rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, center, joins Ukrainian activists in a London protest". Could one please explain how a London protest is related to the theme under discussion? And, last but not least, why 'Ukrainian activists' do their protest in London, and not in Kiev?

How can a theatre critic who has lived in Russia for 26 years compare Gergiev and Bashmet to Arbenina and Makarevich? Gold to clay? You've worked evidently too hard, Mr. Freedman, isn't it a high time to take a leave and have a rest?

Dmitry 'Goblin' Puchkov: Int'l Community Says About Donbass Only Things Profitable For Them

An author, movie translator and Internet-based political writer Dmitry Puchkov, wider known under his alias Goblin, in his pre-New-Year interview to LuganskInformCenter explained his vision of situation in Lugansk and ways out of the crisis.

How do you estimate reaction of the international community to Donbass events of the passing year?

Everything was how it's supposed to be: the 'international community', i.e. a group of countries headed by the USA, prepared first, and then conducted a coup d'état in Ukraine. When it turned out that not all citizens of Ukraine agreed with the results of the putsch, a civil war was started in Ukraine under the guidance of the USA. Well, and further active support to the putschists seated in Kiev, complete defiance of the civil war and humanitarian catastrophe in the Donbass region. Quite a predictable reaction, for this very 'international community' talks only about that's profitable for them. And only then, when it's profitable.

What do you think the Russian civil society could do for the quickest possible settlement of the humanitarian problems in Donbass?

The Russian civil society first could begin to solve humanitarian problems of Donbass. At the given moment the state acts in a somehow strange way, and the citizens cannot consolidate without the state's assistance. It's quite enough to conduct a pair of [charity] telethones on some central TV channels, and quite a consideranle assistance can be rendered to Donbass people. And then [it's important] to assist them regularly.

What would you wish to the people of the Lugansk region for the coming 2015?

First of all I wish to the people of Lugansk that the war is stopped. And then everything by the schedule: let everything settle down, let everybody have job, let the children go to schools in peace. Big luck to you in the New Year!

Rules of Conduct During Artillery Shelling

1. Do not run if explosions are near. Fall on the ground and cover your head with hands — this is the best way to rescue.

2. During shelling at an open space, a ditch or any recess in the ground can serve as a shelter. Having found such a shelter, do not leave it until the shelling is ceased.

3. Any protrusion of the ground, or concrete blockage, or mound will do. It is not recommended to hide in basements of dwellings; there is a high risk to remain under debris.

4. It is recommended to stay away from machinery, cars, fire dangerous and explosive objects.

5. Modern buildings which are insufficiently rigid yet contain plenty of windows, glass cases and glass elements, are extremely dangerous.

6. Do not seek safety in water, river, lake or any other reservoir. After an accidental shell or bomb blast a shock wave of extreme strength will be expanding, leading to a heavy hydraulic shock (the principle of TNT fish stunning).

7. It's strongly recommended to wait through the shelling with your ears tightly closed with hands and slightly opened mouth to control pressure.

These are fruits of the so called "Revolution of Dignity" (which was not a revolution in any case and had nothing to do with dignity) the children of Eastern Ukraine, that is Novorosiya, are enjoying. This is what the so called 'civilized world' led by the USA and EU was for, helping the Ukrainian putschists to overthrow Yanukovich's "tyranny".

God save your children from such a dignity.

It was uploaded 9 months ago, yet the things have not changed since — at least to a better side.

More than 3 million people have already watched it, but it is not late to discover... well, if not truth (I do not intend to change your state of mind in no time), then at least a well grounded — and different — point of view.

Understanding requires some brainwork, you know. And... you just cannot escape it if you want to live in peace.
